Regardless of which agency or facilitator you decide to adopt through, PLEASE thoroughly investigate them using all available methods such as Newsgroup postings, adoption mailing lists for your specific country, the agency's state adoption specialist, the agency's city's Better Business Bureau, at least 3 references from families who have used the agency, and adoption web sites here on the internet.

Wonder if Adoption Photolistings Really Work?

Over 8000 children have appeared on the photolisting since it was started in 1994 and the photolisting receives over 1 MILLION hits per month. Most of those children have found families through the photolisting. In addition, many other children have found families indirectly when families contacted agencies and found out about additional children who weren't posted. Here are some comments from parents:

Nothing has touched me as much as seeing the faces of so many children so desperately in need. I can understand why some countries would not want their children's photos displayed. It is such a powerful way to send such an important message. I love the "My Kids" feature. I am praying that we can adopt one of these children, but the cost is so daunting that I am not sure it is possible. In the meantime, all the children are in my prayers, particularly those on my special page. Please know that you and the children you work so hard for are now always in my prayers. Annette, I wanted to let you know thanks to your site my husband and I have found one more child which we will be adopting and completing our family with. Also a friend viewed my site, and fell in love with a girl on it and she is getting her put on hold. It may only be a small step, but I hope they all get adopted!!! Just over half of the kids we placed last year were a direct result of Precious--folks seeing the child and calling us.
